About the Connected Vehicles Expo Evolution

Connected Vehicles Expo was created to help companies and automotive technology professionals discover innovations, share implementation knowledge and build valuable industry relationships.

Its foundation began with the Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA), established in 2004 by Scott McCormick, and the launch of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Magazine in 2005 by Lawrence Harte. While each organization served different industries, both shared a common mission: discovering emerging technologies, sharing successful implementation knowledge, and helping industry professionals build valuable relationships.

Scott focused on building industry associations that connected companies, developed communities, and advanced emerging technologies. Lawrence built industry media platforms—including magazines, podcasts, conferences, webinars, and educational resources—that helped professionals discover innovations and learn from experienced experts. Together, they organized numerous conferences and trade shows that brought technology leaders together to exchange ideas and accelerate industry growth.

During the early 2020s, Scott and Lawrence recognized a major shift in the automotive industry. Vehicles were rapidly evolving into software-defined, cloud-connected platforms while digital media, artificial intelligence, cloud services, and connected vehicle technologies were converging to create entirely new products, services, and business models. They also recognized that this transformation would redefine industry leadership—creating new opportunities for organizations that adapted while challenging those that did not.

That vision inspired the creation of Connected Vehicles Expo—a new kind of industry event designed to help professionals discover innovations, learn practical implementation strategies, and build meaningful business relationships. The conference program is developed collaboratively through recommendations from industry experts, technology companies, advisory participants, and speaker submissions, ensuring that sessions address the industry’s most important and emerging topics.

Connected Vehicles Expo is a truly global event, welcoming organizations of all sizes—from startups to multinational enterprises—and encouraging participation from companies, researchers, consultants, and innovators around the world. By focusing on education, collaboration, and practical implementation rather than organization size or sponsorship level, the expo provides an open platform where the best ideas and technologies can be discovered, shared, and successfully implemented.
